While in college, he studied applied physics and electrical engineering with an emphasis on electro-optics and received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors. Dr. Nabavian participated in the development of laser systems in a project that was funded by the National Science Foundation. He then studied medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, and received his medical degree with honors. While in medical school, Dr. Nabavian continued academic research and his achievements were reflected in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
